2.2 Verifiable On-chain Claims

Introduction

Claims are assertions or statements made about a subject having certain properties that may be met conditions (for example: age >= 18), and are certified by issuers of a DID credential.

These claims are typically issued by trusted third parties, such as governments, universities, banks and other organizations, and can include things like degrees, licenses, employment records and proof of identity. Blockchain-based verifiable credentials enable secure, decentralized storage of these claims, allowing them to be easily shared and verified, while also providing a higher level of trust and security. Verifiable credentials on the blockchain are cryptographically signed and can be used to prove the authenticity of the issuer, the claimant, and the claim itself. This makes them a powerful tool for verifying identity and establishing trust in a digital world.
